Before this story begins, you need to know that, though this is a tale of superheroes, it is NOT a children's story. There will be joy, and sorrow; there will be murder, death, rape, and teenagers being stupid. There will be life brought into the world; there will be love and heartache, lies and secrets. This story is set in a town in Montana, much like the one I am currently living in. The highschool in this story is based off of my own. The characters in this story are all based off of real people, so if one of the characters shares attributes that you may have, they may be based off of you. But don't get your hopes up.
Now that I have given you this vital information, on with the story…

~-~-~-~-~

Jane Doe was killed on August 8th, 2012 by a mass murderer. The police found her in an abandoned house along with thirty-three others. Only two of the people in the house were alive. There was a young farmer in the house as well, and it seemed as though there had been a struggle between him and Jane. Police concluded that the farmer was the murderer, and Jane Doe had attempted to stop him, costing her her life.
Exactly eighty-three years later, on that day, a baby boy was born into the Monik family. His mother's name was Amelia, his father's Brian, and his sister's Clairissa. His parents wanted to follow the Alphabet pattern with their first initials, but all of the names beginning with 'D' sounded too ordinary. So they settled with 'D'

Three years later, D Monik was kidnapped, along with his eighteen year old sister and his pregnant mother, by the Mexican Mafia. Brian was tied to a chair in the living room of their house, and the house was blown up. Amelia was killed, and her fetus was removed to be sold on the Black Market. Clairissa was taken down to the bad side of Mexico and sold as a sex slave to strange men at a bar. D was to be sold once he was old enough, but he soon ran away, finding his way into foster care and to safety.
Soon, D was adopted by his grandfather, Zeke Monik, and lived with his grandparents with no troubles until around the time D turned fourteen. Around that time, D's grandparents began to have monetary problems. Their house value had dropped, and their mortgage was rising beyond what they had budgeted for. Having already been retired, they had run out of money needed to provide for a growing young man. D was no idiot, he knew what was going on, and he wanted to help...

"D, what on Earth are you looking in the Classifieds for?" His grandmother, Yonda Monik, asked him with her usual kind tone, accompanied by her sweet, old-lady smile. She set down a plate of pancakes in front of D, and gazed at him quizzically.

"I'm looking for a job." D responded simply, thanking his grandmother for the breakfast and eating the provided pancakes that he knew his grandparents had received from the food bank.

"You're fourteen, why do ya need a job?" His grandfather asked from across the table, setting down his mug of coffee and folding his hands together in a questioning manner.

"Because," D began, he had to choose his words carefully, so that he didn't upset his grandparents. "I know that you guys have been having some troubles with money, and I want to help. Plus, it'll prepare me for the real world." His grandparents glanced at each other, seeming to share an entire conversation in that single glance. D saw his grandfather move, shifting his feet several times before flattening out the table cloth; D knew that that was something Zeke did when he was nervous, or worried. His grandmother smoothed out her pants and subconsciously shifted her eyes around; something that she did when SHE was nervous or worried. D glanced at the clock, 7:45, time to go to school. "Well," He said, standing up and walking over to his backpack, "I have to go to school... So... bye." He left, walking quickly over to the park where he would then go to school.
Coconut Elementary was possibly the lamest school in the world. Or, at least, it SEEMED that way to D.  He was the outcast at the school, preferring his own company to that of friends. He wore dark clothing with logos of bands that no one knew; he rarely spoke, and when he did, he spoke of things that no one really wanted to hear.
Standing next to a tree in the park, D cleared his mind, focusing his thoughts on the auditorium at his school. There was a small tug on the back of his neck, and then the world seemed to shift beneath his feet. D stumbled to his knees and opened his eyes as he stood back up in the empty school auditorium. He shifted his backpack on his shoulders and walked out of the auditorium. As soon as the doors closed behind him, students began filing into the school through the front doors. D's day had begun.
This is the first chapter of my superhero story.
The longest part of writing this was choosing the title...
-_-
Oh well.
All characters and ideas belong to me.
Deal with it.
